Queen's University | General Pediatrician

The Department of Pediatrics at Queen’s University is recruiting a pediatrician to a new Geographical Full Time (GFT) position in the Division of General Pediatrics.

The Department of Pediatrics at Queen’s University is the sole regional academic pediatric department serving children and families in Southeastern and Northern Ontario. The department members deliver outstanding general and subspeciality clinical care at the Kingston Health Sciences Centre, a regional tertiary academic center. The department supports a strong Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)-accredited pediatric residency program. There are also significant scholarly programs including research and quality improvement activities.

The candidate will be involved in the care of pediatric patients in ambulatory general pediatric clinics and pediatric Urgent Care Center. Additional responsibilities include scheduled weeks as attending for the pediatric in-patient unit, and all division members share in the overnight and weekend call.

The candidate will collaborate with multiple health care providers, including pediatric subspecialists and work within multidisciplinary teams. Applicants will be evaluated for their ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment through their letters of reference.

The successful applicant will provide clinical teaching at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and will be supported in conducting research and scholarly work including quality improvement activities.

Applicants need to hold an MD degree (or equivalent), have completed postgraduate qualifications in general Pediatrics prior to appointment, and have or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent.

Members of the Department of Pediatrics enjoy a competitive compensation package, including a generous benefits plan. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience. Faculty and their dependents are eligible for an extensive benefits package including prescription drug coverage, vision care, dental care, long term disability insurance, life insurance and access to the Employee and Family Assistance Program. Employees also participate in a pension plan. Tuition assistance is available for qualifying employees, their spouses and dependent children. Queen’s values families and is pleased to provide a ‘top up’ to government parental leave benefits for eligible employees on maternity/parental leave. In addition, Queen’s provides partial reimbursement for eligible daycare expenses for employees with dependent children in daycare. For more information on employee benefits, see Queen’s Human Resources.

Queen’s University is recognized nationally for the quality of its undergraduate, postgraduate, and graduate programs, which attracts outstanding students. Queen’s University is an integral part of the vibrant Kingston community in the heart of the Thousand Islands region of southeastern Ontario.
