The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) and Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre (OCTC) is unique in both care provision and passion.  Located in Ottawa, the nation’s capital, its dynamic Department of Pediatrics serves a population base of 1.8 million within Eastern Ontario.  CHEO-OCTC also serves the pediatric population of Western Quebec and Nunavut Qikiqtaaluk.  CHEO Research Institute is the fastest growing Research Institute in Canada, and the University of Ottawa is a research-intensive university--currently in the top 10 in Canada.  These interconnected institutions provide outstanding family-centered patient care, pioneering research, and training for the health care professionals of tomorrow.  

The Division of Pediatric Medicine is recruiting an academic pediatrician to lead Quality and Patient Safety on the medical inpatient units. The applicant should have expertise or interest in Quality and Safety, preferably through the acquisition of a fellowship in this discipline.  Candidates who are interested in pursuing an academic focus in this area should consider applying.
The Division is comprised of 15 faculty members, plus a number of part-time associates. It focuses on the inpatient clinical teaching units, complex care, and tertiary level ambulatory pediatrics, including various genetic syndromes.  There is also an Academic General Pediatrics fellowship program.  Therefore, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop a hospital-based academic practice, engage in teaching, and participate in innovative research and advocacy, as well as leading Quality and Safety for the division.  He/ she will be appointed at the University of Ottawa academic rank commensurate with experience and academic potential and accomplishment. 

The candidate will be Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (Pediatrics) certified, or equivalent, with specific interest in inpatient pediatric care.  Fluency in English is required. Fluency in French would be an advantage.
